Obituary for Audrey Milot

Print
Audrey Muriel Milot (Phaneuf) passed away peacefully after a short battle with cancer on October 17, 2018.
Audrey was born on July 21, 1938 in Magog, Quebec. After summers spent amongst the maple trees and open spaces along Lake Memphremagog, and upon graduating high school, she enlisted in the RCAF, where she served as a Meteorologist. It was here that she met Andy; it was, by all accounts, love at first sight. They married when they were 20 years old, on September 6, 1958, on the base in Summerside, PEI. While stationed there, in 1960, they welcomed their first child, Perry; in Zweibrucken, Germany; in 1962 their second child, Kimberly, was born. Upon returning to Canada, they lived in Winnipeg before finally moving to Edmonton. Their time in each city was marked by friends, memories, and enough photographs to fill dozens of albums. Audrey was an avid golfer, bowler, and curler. She loved gardening and spending time in the yard picking berries for jams and her famous Christmas baking. She devoted much of her spare time to the Church of the Holy City, where she served on committees, was a Board member, and attended services regularly. Audrey was always up for a laugh and would never let you stay sad about anything for long. She loved music and dancing, writing actual snail mail letters, and was a voracious reader (especially of mystery novels).
Audrey is survived by her husband of 60 years, Andrew; her son, Perry; and her daughter, Kimberly Stamhuis (David) and their children, Lindsay (Aidan), Daniel (Amanda) and Nathan (Melanie); sisters, Lee and Marilyn; brother; Dale; and friends too numerous to count, all of whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Frances and Howard; sisters, Shirley, Ruth and Kay; and brothers, Meryl, Maurice and Frank. Audrey’s presence will be missed by all of us. In lieu of flowers, please consider a Memorial donation to the Cross Cancer Institute, the Capital Care Norwood Hospice or a charity of one’s choice.
A Memorial service will be held at the Church of the Holy City 9119 128A Avenue Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday, October 27, 2018 @ 2:00 PM.
