On Monday, March 17, 2025, Daniel (Don/Dan) Stepanik passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 87 years. Daniel will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michelle (Brooke) Fraser, Darren (Erica) Stepanik and Gail (Bernhard) Stepanik-Keber; grandchildren, Morgan and Finn Fraser, Roman and Kara Stepanik and India Rose Keber; sister, Audrey (Kelly) O’Shea; along with numerous extended relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Andrea; partner, Mary Boonstra; younger brother, Eugene; and parents, Mary and Frank. Daniel was born in Myrnam, Alberta and the family moved to Innisfree when he was 10. After finishing high school, he spent time becoming a draftsman in Calgary where he met Andrea. As newlyweds, they moved back to Innisfree so Daniel could take over the family Esso dealership delivering fuel to the farm community. Daniel was a community builder. He and Andrea served the Innisfree community in multiple ways and his pride was the Innisfree Recreation Park and Innisfree Hall. He was Mayor of Innisfree for a period and went on to serve on various boards and committees in the region. Daniel was an avid curler, golfer and enjoyed playing cards, dancing and a good party! He loved his children and grandchildren and travelled near and far to visit. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the healthcare aides and RNs at Good Samaritan Stony Plain Care Centre for their compassion, care, and unconditional love for Daniel over the past four years. A memorial celebration will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue NW, Edmonton. Cremation has been entrusted to Park Memorial. We are heartbroken to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Claudette Marie Rhea Cecotka (née Demers) on Monday, March 17th, 2025, at the age of 62. Claudette was an amazing woman, and she was fiercely courageous. She profoundly loved her friends and family. She deeply touched the lives of everyone around her. Claudette is lovingly survived by her husband, Andy Cecotka; daughters, Jasmine (Micheal) and Celeste (Liam); stepchildren, Chantal, Kody, and Ashton; four grandchildren, Ethan, Bailey, Nora, and Jaycee; parents, Real and Blandine Demers; sister, Diane; brother, Richard (Michelle); and nephews, Justin and Ian. She was predeceased by her sister, Sylvia; grandparents, Adalbert and Pomela Boissonnault and Marcel and Rhea Demers; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones. We are eternally grateful to all the staff, nurses, and doctors of the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute at the University of Alberta Hospital, units 5A7 and 5A5. Their kindness, caring, and compassion towards Claudette and us, will not be forgotten. Francis Delano Patterson of Mayerthorpe, Alberta peacefully passed away on March 28, 2025, at the age of 82 years. Francis will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Brenda (Jerome) Slugoski of Spruce Grove, Alberta; son, Blaine (Fiona) of Stockton, New South Wales, Australia; grandchildren, Tyler (Kelsea), Travis (Ashley), Tyneal (Dillon), Tanne, Sloan, Alycia (Corey) and Sheldon (Jennifer); great-grandchildren, Natalee, Jhett, Kohl, Dekker, Wyatt and Tara; brother, Gene (Deanna); sister, Maureen: and many more dear relatives and friends. Predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Judy; brothers, Gerald (Helen), Lawrence, Fred; and sister, Doreen (Gordon). It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Rebecca Marie “Becky” Strilchuk on March 17, 2025, in her 97th year. Becky was born on January 1, 1929 in Tofield, Alberta, to Reuben and Emma Eide. She is survived by her loving grandson, Michael Strilchuk; sisters-in-law, Ona Strilchuk and Cleone Lucas; brother-in-law, Brian Downey; as well as numerous cherished nieces, nephews and friends. Rebecca was predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, Dennis Nicholas Strilchuk (2020); son, Dennis Anthony Strilchuk (2017); parents, Reuben and Emma Eide; infant brother, Eugene; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Patrick Doyle, Katherine and Frank Cornish, Theodore Strilchuk, Alice Strilchuk, June and Frank Niven, Delrose Wilk, Kenneth Strilchuk, Sharon Downey and Gail and Graham Lancaster. Becky grew up four miles north of Round Hill, attending Grand Forks School and then Camrose Lutheran College where she majored in commercial courses and met the love of her life. Dennis and Becky Strilchuk were married on August 25, 1951. They owned and operated Park Annex Pharmacy in Edmonton for 20 years and adopted two sons, Dennis Junior and Terry. In 1967, they bought the Strilchuk family farm when the senior Strilchuks retired to Camrose. A number of years involved travelling back and forth between Edmonton and the Round Hill area. Becky was a member of the Camrose Lutheran College Choir and continued in a variety of musical projects for many years exercising her enjoyment of singing and playing the piano. She was a member of the Edmonton Civic Opera, The Edmonton Symphony Chorus, The Christian Arts Chorus and was always active in church music. Becky also served as lead in organizing the introduction program at her church for those wishing to pursue the Roman Catholic faith. Becky was also a very accomplished seamstress, having sewn her own wedding dress and a number of bridesmaids dresses for nieces and friends. She was particularly proud of her Norwegian heritage and the fact that, following formal schooling, she returned to school to learn French. Becky and Dennis spent many happy vacations in Hawaii and developed numerous long-lasting friendships. Sincere gratitude is extended to the staff at Edmonton’s Chartwell Griesbach Retirement Residence for their kind and compassionate care. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue, with visitation one half hour prior. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 14611 Mark Messier Trail. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choosing.
